Mory Gharib, Hans W. Liepmann Professor of Aeronautics and Medical Engineering; Booth-Kresa Leadership Chair, Center for Autonomous Systems and Technologies; Director, Graduate Aerospace Laboratories; Director, Center for Autonomous Systems and Technologies, receives the 2021 Prize of the Ronald J. Adrian Award at the 15th International Symposium on Particle Image Velocimetry (ISPIV 2023), which was held in San Diego, California from June 19-21, 2023.
Gharib receives the award for pioneering the digital version of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), thereby making PIV easier to use and enabling the measurement of large numbers of velocity vector fields. The recipient of this prestigious award is elected by the ISPIV Steering Committee after a thorough discussion and vote. On the second day of the Symposium, June 20 Professor Gharib will receive the 2021 award together with the 2023 award recipient, his former PhD student, Dr. Christian E. Willert, at a special ceremony starting at 1:30 pm at the Arts and Letters building (AL-201) at San Diego State University.
