Special Medical Engineering Seminar-Dr. Chris Puleo
Biomedical Engineering at a Corporate Research Center (Case Studies): From Concept to Product Prototype and Business Model … and Back Again
https://caltech.zoom.us/j/83436560877 ; Meeting ID: 834 3656 0877
Dr. Puleo will talk about life in a corporate research environment through specific case studies, engineering designs, and test data. Projects being discussed will include devices and trials on ultrasound-based peripheral nerve modulation, devices and systems for rapid detection of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance, and microfluidic devices for sample processing (across life sciences, pharmaceutical, and water businesses). Biography: Chris is currently a senior biomedical engineer for GE Research in Niskayuna, New York. He has developed and lead more than five major government and/or external research programs in microfluidics, diagnostics, and microanalytical field for DTRA and NIH, including those on precision tissue dissection, rapid bacterial and antimicrobial resistance analysis, and immune system sample sparing assays.
Internally, Chris led a GE Ventures exploratory program in Bioelectronic Medicince, and founded GE's technical stake and position in non-invasive peripheral nerve stimulation, including a partnership with DARPA. Chris Puleo Named to Albany Biz Review Top 40 Under 40 List.
